Covering letter to a number of enclosures reporting on the extent and activities of the slave trade during the summer season:
1) Translated extract of a letter (f 287) from the British agent at Sharjah, Hajee Yacoob, to Kemball, dated 11 June 1852, listing eight boats that have reached Rusul Khymah [Ra's al-Khaymah] from Zanzibar carrying a 'great number of slaves';
2) Translated extract of a letter (f 287v-288) from Yacoob to Kemball, dated 22 June 1852. Yacoob writes that he despatched an emissary to Ra's al-Khaymah to monitor the import of slaves, before writing to take the issue up with Sheikh Sultan ben Suggar [Sultan bin Saqr]. Yacoob lists the boats and numbers of slaves counted, with totals 575 slaves;
3) Translated substance of a letter (ff 288-89) from Yacoob to Kemball, dated 22 June 1852. Yacoob writes that a single buglah stopped at the Batinah Coast, Amulgavine [Umm al-Qaywayn], Himreeyah, Ejmaun [Ajman] and Sharjah, dropping small numbers of slaves off at each port. Yacoob states that he has written to the sheikh of each place, asking them to seize and detain the slaves;
4) A list of buglahs belonging to Lingah [Bandar-e Lengeh] which had proceeded to the port of Berberah;
5) Translated substance of a letter (f 290) from Yacoob to Kemball, dated 1 September 1852. Yacoob writes that a boat belonging to the people of Abbothabee [Abu Dhabi] set down eight slaves at Rasul Khymah [Ra's al-Khaymah].
