Goldsmid encloses an extract from a despatch (f 278) from the Honourable the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. , dated 21 January 1852, which expresses regret that the Company's schooner Constance arrived on the Batinah coast too late in the season to intercept any vessels travelling back from Africa, which may have been transporting slaves.
