Kemball updates Malet on the Company steamer Queen's despatch around the Gulf, for the purposes of recovering the plundered indigo from the shipwrecked Centaur , and on redress for the mistreatment of the Sharjah agent Hajee Yacoob at the hands of the Sharjah Governor. Included with the letter is an enclosure, letter no.256 of 1852 (ff 143-43) from Kemball to Commodore George Robinson, Commanding Indian Squadron, Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , dated 5 August 1852. In the letter, Kemball requests Robinson to divert the Company's ship Tigris to the Arab Coast on its return from Bussorah [Basra]. Kemball writes that he has received a letter from Sheikh Abdullah ben Sultan, Governor of Sharjah, who denies his role in the harassment of the British agent at Sharjah.
