The letter is a covering letter, related to the purchase of slaves at Lingah [Bandar-e Lengeh] by pilgrims from Lucknow. Enclosed with Anderson’s letter is an extract from paragraph 12 of despatch no.32 of 1854 (folio 359), dated 22 November 1854. The extract states that we [the Honourable Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. ] are glad that the seller of the children purchased by pilgrims from Lucknow will be punished by the Persian authorities. The extract also praises the actions of the nakhuda of the vessel transporting the pilgrams, for his actions in retrieving the slaves.
