The letter is an acknowledgement of receipt of Kemball’s earlier letter (folio 233) relating to the grounding of the Honourable Company’s packet steamship Firoze on the Shatt al-Arab. Anderson writes that the Government approves of Kemball’s proceedings in the matter, and that His Lordship in Council has sanctioned the disbursement of 500 rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. to the Shaikh of Kuwait and his subjects. Anderson also writes that, in light of the Shaikh’s friendly conduct towards the British vessel, a list of presents to be given to the Shaikh has been drawn up (folio 236), which the Acting Commissioner General has been directed to purchase and forward to Kemball. The list, which includes amongst other things, a double-barrelled guns, a pair of pistols, lace, muslin, two telescopes and six canisters of gunpowder, totals 800 rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. .
