The letter and its enclosures relate to the earlier emancipation of thirty-six slaves at Lingah [Bandar-e Lengeh]. A number of enclosures are included with the letter:
1. Letter no.181 of 1853 (folios 335-36) from Kemball to William Taylour Thomson, His Majesty's Chargé D'Affaires at the Court of Persia, Tehran, dated 14 June 1853, the original of which was sent with a report from the British Agent at Bandar-e Lengeh of the seizure of thirty-six slaves at that port. Kemball recommends a degree of leniency towards the Sheikh of Bandar-e Lingeh who, states Kemball, has fulfilled his obligations;
2. Letter no.170 of 1853 (folio 337) from Kemball to Commodore George Robinson, Commanding Officer of the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. Squadron, dated 8 June 1853. requesting whether arrangements can be made to provide accommodation for the emancipated slaves on board the Euphrates ;
3. Letter no.172 of 1853 (folio 338) from Kemball to Commodore George Robinson, Commanding Officer of the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. Squadron, dated 8 June 1853, announcing two enclosures (not included in the file): letters to the Sheikh of Bandar-e Lengeh and the British Agent at Bandar-e Lengeh;
4. Letter no.204 of 1853 (folio 339) from Kemball to William Taylour Thomson, His Majesty's Chargé D'Affaires at the Court of Persia, Tehran, dated 15 July 1853, announcing that thirty-four of the thirty-six slaves (two having died in the interim) are to be sent to the Presidency The name given to each of the three divisions of the territory of the East India Company, and later the British Raj, on the Indian subcontinent. in Bombay
5. A letter from Lieutenant Constable, Commanding Officer of H.C. Brig Euphrates , to Commodore George Robinson, dated 28 June 1853, reporting on a number of slaves taken on board his ship at Bassidore [Bāsa‘īdū], and their general state of health.
