The letter is acknowledging the receipt of Lieutenant Henry Frederick Disbrowe's letter (No. 10) dated the 9 October 1855 regarding the position of Syed Saeed [Sa‘īd bin Sultān Āl Sa‘īd], the Imam of Muscat, relative to the Persians at Bunder Abbas [Bandar-e ʻAbbās]. In response, it states that the Imam should be referred to the British Envoy at Tehran for guidance on the matter.
It also expresses the disapproval of the Bombay Government over the Native Agent Non-British agents affiliated with the British Government. at Muscat's letter to the Captain Disbrowe, and the latter's response to the Imam of Muscat.
