Hennell writes that, in previous years, numerous gifts have been received by the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. from the Imam of Muscat and his son, to an estimated value of 2000 rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. . Hennell states that all these gifts have been 'brought' on the Government Books, and that no return has been made. He therefore suggests that his Lordship in Council consider whether a gift of equivalent value be made to the Imam of Muscat.
