Letter making arrangements for four horses to be shipped to Calcutta on the British India Steam Navigation Company vessel Penang. The letter also provides details of each horse and informs the recipient of the letter that a member of Pelly's residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. staff will accompany the horses.
