a house, but the Seyd managed so cleverly, that I
succeeded in purchasing and bringing it away ; an
it is now safely lodged among my other curiosities.
Alter I had concluded my measurements I care
fully observed the village and mount of Nebbi Yiuw
The village and the tomb are principally built on tli
east boundary wall, and a mount of parallelograinmi
form juts out from it easterly, on which is a burying-
ground.
The mound which projects out is not above teno
twelve feet high. Ihe tomb is on the highest parte
the whole, and on what appears to have been tli
west wall, a few yards of which adjoins the villages
little iu front ol the tomb, and on it are some pravc
b
and a very deep well; then comes the ope nine
formed by the road from Kermelis to Mousul; aftei
Inch the wall is continued again up to the Ivausse:
under Koyunjuk. I fear there will be no means of
taking the dimensions of the mound of Nebbi Yunit
otheiwise than by distant sights, on account of tk
village being on and connected with it.
One thing is sufficiently obvious to the most care
less observer, which is, the equality of age of all
these \ estiges. hether they belonged to Nine vet
or some other city is another question, and one not so
easily determined, but that they are all of the same
age and character does not admit of a doubt.
