The letter is forwarding translations of various communications and confirms that Zoraub Beg arrived at Bushire with the Prince's Fermaud [ Firman A Persian word meaning a royal order or decree issued by a sovereign, used notably in the Ottoman Empire (sometimes written ‘phirmaund’). ] dated 22 May 1808.
Five enclosures:
1. A translation of a Firmaun [ Firman A Persian word meaning a royal order or decree issued by a sovereign, used notably in the Ottoman Empire (sometimes written ‘phirmaund’). ] from Ḥusayn ‘Alī Mirzā, the Prince at Shiraz to Nicholas Hankey Smith, received 20 May 1808. It concerns a Khelat that the Resident is being honoured with; an itemised list of what the Khelat consists of is enclosed.
2. A translation of a Firmaun from the Prince at Shiraz [Hossain Ali Merza] to Nicholas Hankey Smith, received 15 May 1808. The prince is expressing his gratitude for a buggy and horse sent to him by the Resident.
3. A translation of a 'Arzee' from Nicholas Hankey Smith to Prince Hossain Ali Merza, dated 22 May 1808. The Resident is expressing his gratitude for the Khelat the Prince has honoured him with.
4. A translation of a letter from Nicholas Hankey Smith to Nasser Oola Khan, dated 22 May 1808. The Resident is acknowledging and expressing his gratitude for the Khelat gifted to him by Prince Hossain Ali Merza.
5. A translation of a letter from Nasser Oolla Khan to Nicholas Hankey Smith, received 1 June 1808. The author is requesting that the Resident introduce his representative to Colonel John Malcolm. The author is also presenting the Resident with a series of gifts, detailed in an itemised list.
