The letter is informing the Resident of the details of a British force heading to the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. from Bombay for the purpose of suppressing piracy. It notes that the force will rendezvous at the island of Kishime [Qeshm].
The Resident is also instructed to join the expedition, so it may benefit from his knowledge of the current affairs of the region; he is informed that the HC Cruizer Ternate has been dispatched to Bushire to enable him to join the British force.
Enclosed is an extract of a letter from Francis Warden, dated 28 October 1819, which authorises the Resident to join the British expedition as mentioned above.
