The letter is enclosing an extract of a letter from James Bruce Simson, Acting Secretary to the Medical Board. The Resident is therefore informed that Assistant Surgeon Dows will remain in charge of the medical duties for the 1st Battalion, 3rd Regiment until a relief medical officer can be placed with the regiment. As a result, he will be delayed in taking up his appointment at the Bushire Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. .
