Genre/Subject Matter:
This scene, likely taken from on board ship, shows a dhow A term adopted by British officials to refer to local sailing vessels in the western Indian Ocean. with two-lateen sail rigs at anchor at Karachi.
At least three figures can be seen attending to the aft yard, while the lateen is draped over the starboard side of the boat. The forward sail is stowed and bundled tight to its yard.
Damaged film, printing error or a light leak has caused a very slight band, most discernible in the upper edge of the left of the image, to appear slightly darker in the print.
