The letter is a covering letter, relating to the piracy and plunder of a shipwrecked vessel’s cargo at Sharjah. Enclosed with Anderson’s letter are statements taken by the Senior Magistrate of Police, from the owner of the shipwrecked vessel (folio 85) and the merchant who charted the vessel (folios 85-86), both dated 30 May 1856). The statements give detail of the vessel’s cargo and its value during the course of the voyage on which it was plundered.
