The letter is an acknowledgement of receipt of Jones’s earlier letter relating to the wounding and death of a Kuteef [Al-Qaṭīf] man by a boat crew from Aboothabee [Abu Dhabi], and subsequent efforts to extract compensation from the Shaikh of Abu Dhabi. Anderson requests that in future, when quoting Hijri dates, the corresponding dates in English [Gregorian calendar] are given as well.
