The letter is a covering letter, enclosing an extract of paragraph 6 of extract no.8 of 1856 (folio 16), dated 20 February 1856, from the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. . The extract relates to the Amaieer chief Humeed bin Mujdel, and praises the actions that naval commanders took against him at Kutiffe [Al-Qaṭīf], while conceding that the outcome of the assault was an insufficient penalty for his misdeeds.
