I heard that when Shaikh Nasir, brother of Siiaikh
'Aoaullah who is living in Hasa with his family, came to
'^atar recently,he, in the course of talk in the Majlis,
told Shaikh Abdullah that from what he had seen and heara,
the Americans ol the Oil Company in Hasa were very miser and.
that there was no truth in the information communicated to him
that they were very generous. Shaikh 1 Abdullah is said to have
replied that he believed that the British nation were more
generous than other people, but as a Company he thought that
(Americans)
they/offer better terms than others.
Shaikh Nasir travelled with me on the same launch to
Doha. He praises Bin Sa'ud very much but talks ill of the
officials whom he says are sucking the blood of the poor
in the name of Bin Sa T ud. He says tnat he is very happy in
Hasa where he spe*is six months in sport. He had five hawks
with him four of which ne purchased from Bahrain and one was
given to him by H#E.Shaikh Hamad. When we reached near Lusail
Shaikh Nasir said 1 This is the village in which I used to live
with my father and brothers before I became angry with t Abdullah
and went to Hasa T . I hear that Shaikh T Abdullah does not like
him but he is very much afraid of him. Shaikh Nasir lold me that
he will spend four days at Doha and then leave for Hasa by land
route.
When I was at Doha I heard that the Shaikh of ^atar asked
A.P .O .G. to have his cars sent to Abbadan for repairs and
, ^ also to supply him with electric lights but they refused to
| comply with any of nis requests. The Shaikh has therefore
uv^
^ decided to take customs duty on things arriving for tnem at
i 1 Doha.
The Shaikh left for Raiyan on Firrday the 2nd November 1934
from where he goes hawking. 1 have been given to understand
that the Shaikh has expressed his desire to discuss tne question
of oil before the month of Ramadhan(December) during which it
is not advisable to enter into any discussions witn him.
