NOTE.
I left Bahrain on Tuesday the 30th October 1934
at ^.30 p.m. and arrived at Dohah on Wednesday the 31st
October 1934 at 11.30 a.m.
As the Shaikh was sleeping at the time of my arrival
at Doha, I thought that it would be better if I waitea till
the Dhuhr prayers are over. At 2 p.m. I went to the Palace
but the Shaikh was still inside the Haram. His sons, f Ali
Hamad and Hasan were sitting with tneir Fidawis in the eastern
veranda without any carpets or mats. Half an hour later
Shaikh T Abdullah came from the Earam when I salamed him and
conveyed P.AIs Salams ana enquiry about his health. I then
gave him the complimentary letter from P.A. After coffee
was served he took me to the Ghurfah between the Haram and
the Diwan. No one besides his son Hamad was present. 1
conveyed tne message of the Honourable the Political Piesident
to him. The Shaikh said that he was very thankful to the
Honourable the P.R. for his assistance and also for kiadly
enuuiring about his health(leg). He also said that he was
grateful to P.A. for his kind assistance in the matter.
Besides these few words the Shaikh did no^say anything or
ask any question about passes. Before conveying the message
the Shaikh looked to be uneasy^but as soon as I informed him
he put on a smiling face. The Shaikh then went inside the
Haram and left his son Hamad with me.
When his father went away Shaikh Hamad said that
he heard that ftie Shaikh of Sharjah sold one of his Islands
to the British Government and that Yusuf Kanu was sent to Sharjai
it
for this purpose. I told him that I did not hear about nor
a
about the departure of Yaauf Kanu to Sftarjah. He then asked
if the ship of the Oil Company arrived at Bahrain and I told
him that I did not hear anything about it#
