Dear Mr. Walton,
Q. A T A R .
Further to iny letter of the 11th July,
Mr. Mylles has now succeeded in obtaining an extension
of our agreement with the Shaikh over a period of eight
months from 6th August, This, of course, greatly
relieves the tension.
Having regard to our experience in guwait,
we feel that it would he very desirable for all "political"
matters to be settled between the Governments political
representatives and the Shaikh before our negotiator
appears on the scene. If you concur in this view, we
can, no douot, arrive at a mutually satisfactory time-table
for the future.
As I remarked in my previous letter,
I suggest it would be desirable to have another meeting
at the India Oo-iice in order to settle all outstanding
points. They are not considerable. If you will let
me imov; one or more dates which are convenient to you
and your colleagues, we will make arrangements accordingly,
Ix it can be arranged for the near future, so much the
better.
