I forward herewith a copy of a letter I have
received from the British Council in which an offer
has been made to pay the expenses (less expenses for
the journey to the U 0 K. and back)" of a visitor from
Bahrain or one of the other Gulf States.
2, So far as Bahrain is concerned have you anybody
you can suggest ? I can only think of Ahmed Omran
or some English-knowing merchant such as Hussain
Yateem or Khalifah bin Abdul Rahman al ^osaibi,
3. Owing to their inexperience I am not consulting
Andrew and Stobart. " If you think that the funds
allotted would be more profitably expended on a visitor
from Kuwait please advise me accordingly. The only
possible visitor from Muscat would, I think, be
Saiyid Tariq and as he is not concerned with education
or trade and the Sultan probably distrusts him or at
any rate does not make full use of his abilities I do
not at present feel inclined to suggest that he should
