The letter regards a complaint about the conduct of the recipient, made to the Resident by Cossia Arratoon Malcolm, linguist at the Bushire Factory An East India Company trading post. . It notes that as requested, the complaint has been submitted to higher authorities.
Enclosed with the letter is a copy and translation of the complaint submitted to William Bruce, dated 29 October 1811; this complaint also includes details of Stephen Watson Henshaw's outstanding rent, which the Resident is requested to settle. The objectionable behaviour that is the main cause of the complaint has arisen as the result of Cossia Arratoon Malcolm's refusal to grant permission for Mr Henshaw to marry his daughter.
