In 1904, the aovemm&nt of India estimated the
annual value of the Customs, if properly administered, at
£23,3331 and they have offered the SheiKh a fixed income
of £20 ,000 in return for the control of his oustoms
administration.
The Sheikh's customs are at present leased out
to farmers. The sins realised hy him from the farmers
have teen as follows:-
£7746 in 1903.

For the years 1906 and 1907 four fifths of the customs
were farmed out for £6413 per annum. The remaining one
fifth was leased for £1867 up to April It 0^, "hut we have

- A report of trade with Persia (folios 14-15), which includes figures for Russian trade into and out of Persia;
- Copies of memoranda (folios 16-17), dated 15 July 1908, concerning Indian trade with the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. ;
- A report of the trade of England and India with the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. (folios 18-20), covering the period 1895-1907;
