ini-elligence dated the 7th April 1389. The Chief of Debaye
having been regardless of the treaty he concluded with the
chiefs of Shargah and AJman and with Salim bin Sultan, the
last named personage organised a rising against the Chief of
Shargah|[iaving secretly arranged with the Chief of AJman for
support.Consequently on the 22nd March the Chief of Ajman

brought with/a contingent of Kaeem and Joining Salim bin
Sultan's force threatened Shargah where defensive preparations

had been made but Salim finc^his men were not in sufficient
numbers relinquished his purpose and the Chief of AJman re
turned to Bere^nejQ
The Chief of Shargah then requested the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. Agent
to mediate between him and Salim bin Sultan, his uncle, which
the latter did, knowing Salim to be a desparate man, and
brought about an amicable settlement between the parties.
News has arrived here that Shaikh aeed bin Khali-
fah made an attack on the 4th May, on the Beni Jabir and oti®
other tribes residing at Karah near 51 Hasa, and killed 30
of their men and carried away the camels gu^d. horses wliich
were entrusted to them by Shaikh Jasim bin Thani for the
purpose of being tended. After thib occurrence Shaikh Zaid
bin Khalifah proceeded to a place called Messeqmeer near Katr
where he arrived and pitched his cam^ on the 3th May. His
brother Shaikh Eiyab bin Khalifahis reported to have sent sup
plies to him at the camp at Messeqmeer in 4 boats despatched
Sila.
The Chief of the Kaeem Shaikh Mahomed bin Ali died on
the 2nd May. His sons are negociating with the Chiefs df
Shargah and. Ajman through the medium of Shaikh Salim bin
, uncle
Suitanjbhe, and '.'aw^geer of the Chief of Shargah for the pur-

Foliation: This file has been split into four parts.
