In the Gulf were perMenently or at certain seasons
tenanted by Arab tribes j raid several of thee includ
ing Abu I'usa by the Jowasits. In the pearling; season
the tribal fishing boats would have recourse to the
islands for w. ter or for refuge from stress of wea
ther; in the spring, after rain, the various Shaikhs
would send their horses and flocks for grazing and
in the winter parties of their subjects habitually
sojourned in the islands for fishing purposes,
firae went on and the rections of the Jowasira on the
Persian Coast after sose generations became as it
were permanent settlers there and quarrels began to
arise between parties of then and their Itinsrsen froj.
