Letter regarding Pelly's visit to the telegraph stations, awaiting the arrival of Mr [William] Mackinnon who is touring the Gulf on behalf of the British India Steam Navigation Company; the treaties signed with Bahrain, Guttur [Qatar] and Abuthabee [Abu Dhabi] and of their being no sign of them breaking down.
The letter goes on to discuss the possibility of Mr Fitzgerald vising the region; Pelly's desire to travel along the Russian frontier at the Caspian Sea; observations on Russian expansion, Herat and its key position with regards to India; and more generally with regards to the British in India and changes in Asia.
