About this item
- Content
Letter enclosing a copy of letter No. 940 from the Government of India containing instructions with regards to Maskat [Muscat] and a telegram from Sir Charles Wood, the Secretary of State for India.
The letter from the Government confirms the possibility of supplying arms and munitions for the Imaam [Imam] of Maskat but states that the Imaam must undertake any exertions himself.
The telegram from Sir Charles Wood encourages British assistance in a resolution to the Wahabee [Wahhabi]-Maskat dispute and reinforces the instruction not to undertake any actions on land.
Both the copy of letter No. 940 and the copy of the telegram are signed by Auckland Colvin as officiating Under Secretary to Government of India.
