2. Z understand from Captain Fletcher* who has
discussed the amhejet with M* wolters, the Belgian
Customs official stationed at Mohammerah, that if the
present facilities are withdrawn 9 it would he neces
sary as soon as she tied up at Abadan thoroughly to
seareh for contraband any steamer which had been lying
in the streaau ¥his would be done to ensure that
nothing had been taken aboard from the Iraq shore
during the period she had been lying at anchor*
This operation migkit delay the ship for two or three
days* If quarantine and customs formalities are not
carried out in mid stream there will be considerable
delay as Abadan has one jetty only, and the Anglo*
Persian
