Extract from the letter regarding the resolution passed by Government on Colonel Pelly's communications regarding the possibility of relocating the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. , main Telegraph Station and Coal Depot to a location near Cape Mussendom [Musandam] highlighting that:
'these letters like everything that proceeds from Colonel Pelly's hands have a merit apart from their immediate purpose'.
The resolution goes on to observe that the letters will form a valuable contribution to Government's knowledge of the Gulf and that they wil be forwarded to the Government of India.
Enclosed is an extract from despatch No.7, dated 9 February 1864 from the Government of India in reply observing that:
'the remarks contained in this very interesting paper are creditable to the intelligence and zeal of Colonel Pelly'.
