This view of the bay of Muscat from an elevated position in the east was likely photographed from Al-Jalali Fort. It shows the Al-Mirani fort at centre, along with the Sultan's Palace and a variety of other buildings lining the shore in the left middleground.
Many small craft are visible in the middleground and foreground, while two boats are at anchor further out in the bay at the right of the image.
