The letter is enclosing translations of two communications from Nawab An honorific title; an official acting as a provincial deputy ruler in South Asia; or a significant Muslim landowner in nineteenth century India. Ubas Koolee Khan [Nawāb ‘Abbās Qulī Khān] son of the late Nawab An honorific title; an official acting as a provincial deputy ruler in South Asia; or a significant Muslim landowner in nineteenth century India. Ubas Mooneerood Dowla Ruza Koolee Khan Nadir Sung of Uzeemabad, concerning property plundered by the Juwasmees [ Qawāsim One of the ruling families of the United Arab Emirates; also used to refer to a confederation of seafaring Arabs led by the Qāsimī tribe from Ras al Khaima. ] pirates. Two enclosures:
1. Translation of a letter from Nawab An honorific title; an official acting as a provincial deputy ruler in South Asia; or a significant Muslim landowner in nineteenth century India. Ubas Koolee Khan to Sir Evan Nepean, Baronet, Governor of Bombay, dated 3 April 1815. The letter describes how a Bugla Large trading vessel. [ buggalow Large trading vessel. ] the author was on board, which was also carrying horses belonging to William Bruce, was attacked and captured by Juwasimees pirates. It describes how he was captured and taken, along with his women and children, to Russoolkhyma [Ra's al-Khaymah], and describes the conditions of their imprisonment. It also describes the threats that were made on the author's life, in spite of the letter of protection he carried as a British subject. It is mentioned that they were eventually released, in an inadequately sized boat sent to Sohar [Ṣuḥār], and the assistance of the British is requested in recovering the author's lost property.
2. Translation of a letter from Nawab An honorific title; an official acting as a provincial deputy ruler in South Asia; or a significant Muslim landowner in nineteenth century India. Ubas Koolee Khan to Sir Evan Nepean, Baronet, Governor of Bombay, dated 3 April 1815. The letter consists of itemized lists of the property taken from the author by the pirates, along with that of his fellow traveller Aga Aboo Talib [Āghā Abū Ṭālib].
