- Content
This letter concerns a communication, recently received by Samuel Hennell from Sheik Mahomed ben Khuleefa [Muhammad bin Khalīfah Āl Khalīfah], Chief of Bahrein [Bahrain], in which the Sheik sought Hennell's advice on whether to respond to a communication from Mirza Jaffer Khan, the Persian Commissioner at Mohumrah [Khorramshahr, Iran], which referred to Bahrein as a dependency of Persia. Hennell states that he advised the Sheik that nothing more was necessary than a courteous acknowledgement of Mirza Jaffer Khan's communication. The letter is followed by a translation of Mirza Jaffer Khan's letter, dated 19 May 1850.
