Historical Consideration
8. In an economic report of this kind it would be unusual to
discuss questions of ancient history and archaeology, but there are
important details, relating to the past trade and industrial activity
along the south Arabian coast, which apply to the province of
Dhufar of today, and which may be useful in guiding the develop-
