At a private interview with His Excellency the Viceroy, at
Delhi in March, the Sultan of Muscatmentioned his desire to
abdicateand his wish to remain in India. In reply to this
His Excellency said that the Sultan could stay three months
in India, but must return to Muscat after that. The idea of
this was that the Sultan should have ample time to consider
so important a decision, and that he would probably change his
mind after the rest and change in India.
At present therefore the matter is in abeyance but we
are consulting Trevor according to your suggestion.
