The letter is informing the Bombay Government that the Resident found the tombs of Claudius James Rich, late Resident at Bagdad [Baghdad] and John Taylor of the Bombay Medical Establishment (both located at Sheraz [Shiraz]) to be in ruinous condition. It therefore further informs the Government that he has commissioned a replacement monument in marble, and notes that it is almost complete; the inscription included on the monument is transcribed in the letter.
