The letter is informing the Bombay Government that the Resident arrived at Sherauz [Shiraz] on 1 August 1822 and that he has been well received by the Persian authorities. It notes that Ḥusayn ‘Alī Mirzā, Prince at Sherauz, has been restating Persian claims over Bahrain and his intention to bring the island under Persian Governance once again. It also mentions that the Prince has been reassured that British forces being maintained in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. have no hostile intentions towards his country.
