The letter relates to charges made against the British Agent at Sharjah, Hajee Yacoob [Hajji Yaqoob], by Sheikh Sultan ben Suggur [Sultan bin Saqr]. The following enclosures are included with the letter:
1. The translated extract of a letter (folios 209-10) from Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr to Kemball, dated 31 August 1853, in which Sheikh Sultan makes allegations against Yaqoob, suggesting that he appropriates for himself money that should be given as compensation to the victims of acts of aggression;
2. The translation of a letter (folio 211) from Kemball to Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr, dated 24 September 1853. Kemball acknowledges receipt of Sheikh Sultan's allegations, but refutes them on the basis that proof is not forthcoming. He also insists that in one of the cases stated, compensation was not exacted in the first place.
