The letter concerns the incident of piracy committed by a Ra's al-Khaymah vessel against a Zanzibar vessel in early 1852. Goldsmid requests that all details on the incident be sent to the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. Resident Arnold Kemball so that he may make a 'precise demand' for compensation.
