The letter relates to gifts purchased by the Government for the Shaikh of Kuwait, as reward for the assistance he offered to the stricken British packet Firoze in June 1854. Anderson writes that the gifts have now been purchased, and are being sent to the Gulf on the Honourable Company’s sloop Falkland . Enclosed with Anderson’s letter is a list of the goods purchased (folio 238), dated 31 December 1854. The total value of the goods purchased in 794 rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. , 12 annas, 4 pies.
