The letter is an acknowledgement of receipt of Kemball’s earlier letter (folios 219-20) relating to the question of responsibility over the retrieval of indigo from the shipwrecked and plundered vessel Centaur . Anderson writes that the Government approves of Kemball’s letter to the Insurance Committee at Calcutta, and forwards for Kemball’s information, a letter (no.3450, folio 224) from George Edmonstone, Secretary to the Government of India, to Anderson, dated 11 August 1854, confirming that Kemball’s letter has been approved of and passed on.
