Letter regarding an attack of fever which Edwards has been suffering with for two weeks and news on other friends in Bushire who have also suffered from fever.
The letter updates Pelly on the ongoing obstructions and difficulties being caused by various Persian officials in Bushire in blocking attempts to export barley and straw.
The letter goes on to inform Pelly of the matters being discussed in Bushire, which include the Sheikh [Shaikh] of Bahrein [Bahrain]'s 'indiscriminate plunder' of Guttur [Qatar] and the aid being provided by the colonies of the Sheikh of Aboothabee [Abu Dhabi] in terms of sea worth boats in breach of the maritime peace treaty and the fears that this may lead to the plunder of the Oman ports too.
Also discussed are a request from the Postmaster general for the Post Office at Bunder Abbass [Bandar Abbas] to be given protection from intrusion; ongoing difficulties that Captain Hobson's crew have been facing from the Persian Governor's servants; the mail steamer having been detained owing to the pilot being prevented from leaving the vessel; ongoing complinats against the Persian Foreign Agent and a list of complaints sent to him which have not been addressed; and Aseer Yohyn Mirza, brother of Assudoollah [Asadullah] Mirza being placed at Bushire as acting Governor pending his brother's return.
