The letter and its enclosures relate to an incident in which a vessel despatched from the Honourable Company’s steam frigate Queen to Debai [Dubai], upon its return to the Queen from the town, was pelted with stones by forty men from the shore. The following enclosures are included with Kemball’s letter:
1. Letter no.78 of 1855 (folio 114) from Commodore R. Ethersey, Commanding Officer Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. Squadron, to Kemball, dated 29 July 1855. Ethersey’s letter itself encloses a letter (folios 115-16), addressed to him by Senior Lieutenant Adams, Commanding the Queen , to Ethersey, dated 5 July 1855. Adam’s letter is a report of his tour of the Arab coast, including the stone-pelting incident at Dubai;
2. Letter no.252 of 1855 (folio 117), Kemball’s reply to Ethersey, dated 30 July 1855.
