The letter is an acknowledgement of receipt of Kemball’s previous communication (folios 3-4) regarding the promises of Shaikh Sultan bin Suggur [Sultan bin Saqr] to suppress the slave trade in his dominions. Anderson writes of his satisfaction at Shaikh Sultan’s promises, but requests that Kemball remain vigilant in light of the deceit he apprehends in the Shaikh’s promise.
