A letter from the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. (forwarded from the Foreign Office), Bahrain to Ernest Bevin, Foreign Secretary, June 1948. The letter gives details of a prohibition on the import of liquor into Oman recently announced by the Sultan of Muscat. A translation of the Sultan Said bin Taimur's [Sa‘īd ibn Taymūr Āl Bū Sa‘īd] communiqué, dated 22 April 1948, is enclosed.
