The file contains letters from a M Comencini, author of Coins of the Modern World 1870-1936 , to the Department of Overseas Trade and the India Office The department of the British Government to which the Government of India reported between 1858 and 1947. The successor to the Court of Directors. requesting information on the currency and coinage in use in Muscat and Oman and the Indian States. Replies from the two departments are included, giving what information they have and referring Comencini to more appropriate offices.

At the back of the file (folio 16) is a map of Kalat and the Gwadur [Gwadar] region, showing the contested boundaries between the two territories. This has been misfiled and forms an enclosure to Memorandum No. F. 57-BPG/46 from the Government of India, External Affairs Department, dated 12 November 1946.
