Following is addressed India and repeated G. O. C. 3 Basrah :—
On December 11th Transport “ Kinfauns Castle ” sailed from England
and she is due Basrah on December 31st. 77 officers and 2,440 rank and
j file [for details see my telegram Code 27167 (Dy. No. S.-30625), dated Decem
ber 13th] are on board.
Troops must he disembarked in lighters as the draught of vessel is too
great to allow of entering port.

We have noted your requirements and will send supplies to the extent
possible. As regards maxim and telephone equipments: as a result of stocks
in India being practically exhausted and many essential component parts of
these equipments having to be imported and the Home authorities experiencing
the very greatest difficulty in complying with our demands for these, there will,
however, be great delay. .
This refers to your 2264-Ord. (Zty. No. S.-30168) of 9th December.
