Content: Enclosures no. 2-8 to a despatch from the Secret Department, Bombay [Mumbai] Castle, dated 15 February 1848. The enclosures are dated 24 January-14 February 1848. The enclosures consist of copies of correspondence relating to delays to improvements in the fortifications of Aden, perceived inconsistencies in communications on the subject, and the appointment of an Executive Engineer to oversee the improvements. The primary correspondents are: the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. , Aden; the Government of India; and the Bombay Chief Engineer’s Office.
