Minister discussed comments on his draft contained
in my letter of January 24th enclosed in my despatch ,
No. 48 of Januai-y 25th.
Regarding second sentence I made it clear that in
no circumstances would Government of India agree to a
Persian Consul on the ground that Ton Saud would
immediately demand same privilege. He reluctantly
abandoned this. Finally I said I would enquire whether
you would agree to an exchange of not6c not to
published under which two members of Persian community,
one Shiah end one Sunni, should be allowed to represent
Persian interests unofficially*
Regarding third sentence he would not agree to drop
this altogether but is submitting counter-draft based on
reciprocity which we discussed and which I nhinlc vail be
acceptable. I will send cop^ by
