at Nushki to enable traders to obtain
transport for their caravans there instead of at
Quetta, if they prefer to do so.
On the night of the 22nd November, an
attack was made on the camp of Mr. Vreden-
burgh of the Geological Survey of India at
Naulong in the Mula Pass. The assailants
whose identity is not yet known, happily con
fined themselves to throwing stones, but two
sowars of the escort were injured.
Towards the end of November some
camels of the Barab Chah thana were looted
while out grazing; the man in charge being
stripped naked and bound by the thieves. A
pursuit party came up with the gang a short
distance from Rod, and recovered the camels,
but the thieves escaped, although one of their
number was wounded.
On the night of the 13th December, the
Gudwana post in Zhob, held by fifteen men of
the Zhob Levy Corps, was attacked by a gang
of Wazirs and Shirannis from Birmal, probably
the men concerned in previous attacks on Zhob
posts (see Journal for July). The defenders
who had five of their number killed and three
wounded, beat off the raiders after a stubborn
fight lasting two hours.
