P.855, I am directed by the Marquess Curzon of Xedleston to
state that the necessary steps will be taken to grant
consular powers to Major Rae as His Majesty’s Consul at
Muscat from October 21st last.
2 . I am to enquire whether it is to be understood
from the telegram of the 25th ultimo from the Viceroy of
India that Major Anson has taken the place formerly held by
Major Rae at Bushire, and if so, whether it is desired that
Major Anson should receive the local rank of His Majesty’s
Consul at Bushire, as did Major Rae. Should this be
desired I am to request that the full names of Major Anson
may be furnished, in order that the necessary Royal
Commission may be prepared.
